DESCRIPTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
REMEDIAL ACTION. The StanTech Group develops remedial action plans that are cost effective and environmentally sound. Recent project experience includes the development and implementation of remediation plans for leaking underground storage tank sites, a pond contaminated with acidic/lead-bearing petroleum wastes, and petroleum refineries and tank farms. Remedial actions associated with the contaminated pond included the treatment of acid-contaminated waters by lime neutralization, cement stabilization of pond sludges, and construction of a monofill for on-site sludge disposal. Remedial actions associated with UST's, refineries and tank farms include excavation, treatment (in situ and ex situ), and disposal of hydrocarbon-contaminated soils, and recovery, treatment (in situ and ex situ), and disposal/reuse of hydrocarbon-contaminated groundwater and free-phase hydrocarbons.
HEALTH AND SAFETY PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT. The StanTech Group has personnel experienced in the development of health and safety plans for sites involving hazardous materials. Once the plans are developed, they are often reviewed by a Certified Industrial Hygienist. Work is performed by professionals and technicians who have completed the 40-hour OSHA Health and Safety Training Course for Hazardous Waste Operations (29 CFR 1910.120).
UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANKS. StanTech is experienced in providing consulting for the Oklahoma State Underground Storage Tank Indemnity Fund. StanTech is a leader in this field and provided the plan for the first case to be awarded reimbursement by the State of Oklahoma. StanTech maintains close contact with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENTS. The StanTech Group employs a phased approach to environmental assessments. A Phase I Environmental Assessment is performed to determine the current condition and to identify any existing or potential environmental concerns. A Phase II Investigation is performed to assess environmental concerns identified during the Phase I Investigation.
PHASE I ASSESSMENT. A Phase I Environmental Assessment includes a review of site history and ownership, analysis of historical aerial photography, a visit to the site to document the present surface conditions and operating practices, a review of regulatory agency records concerning the site and immediate vicinity, and preparation of a final report.
PHASE II ASSESSMENT. A Phase II Investigation may include sampling of surface soils, subsurface soils, and/or groundwater depending on the specific environmental concerns. Some of the sampling and testing services which are available from the StanTech Group are:
- Monitoring well design, installation, and development
- Single event, periodic, or long-term sampling
- In-house chemical and geotechnical analysis
- Soil borings and subsurface soil sampling
- Vadose zone and/or groundwater contaminant plume determination and migration analysis
- Recovery system design, installation, and monitoring
- Soil gas surveys
- Electrical resistively surveys
WATER AND GROUNDWATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. StanTech has developed expertise in determination of the suitability of water and groundwater for municipal and industrial use and in assessing the impact of releases of hazardous substances to these waters. Standard's personnel are experienced in groundwater monitoring well design and installation, ground and surface water sampling and analysis, and groundwater modeling. These are critical aspects of any water or groundwater resource management program.
StanTech has a staff of engineers, geologists, hydrologists, drillers, and environmental specialists with extensive experience in performing hydrogeologic assessments of contaminated and potentially-contaminated aquifer systems.
ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE DIVISIONS
